Hiya everyone! My name is Jasen, I'm 34 and I am from Central Pa. Jersey Shore Pa. I have always had an interest in these little trailers and would really love to build one. Right now I have a 1969 Scotty Gaucho. Sadly the Scotty is starting to fall apart though, and I am not up to a total restoration on it.

With that being said, right now my options are these.
1. Keep patching up the Scotty to try and get another couple of years out of it.

2. Sell the Scotty, buy a cheap trailer frame and build my own Teardrop or TTT.

3. Strip the Scotty down and use it's frame to build my own Teardrop or TTT.

Hi Jason, welcome aboard. I vote for your item number two. Puttering with your old trailer might be money down the drain, and revamping an old vintage trailer frame is a fairly ambitious project, and could be costly.
There are a number of quality frames available that you can use for your teardrop. I've built a couple on Harbor Freight frames, but many folks prefer to get a more sturdy (and costly) base for their build. Good luck, take pics, ask questions and come on out to So Cal on you maiden voyage and we'll talk teardrop trailers.
8) ;) Roly ~~

Welcome Jasen!

Theres a ton of info on here, so enjoy reading! Keep an eye out for some gatherings around PA too. There was supposed to be one at Knoebels this weekend, but the flooding kinda killed it.

See you around sometime!

Hi, Jasen. Welcome to the forum. I'm not too far from you. I'm in Centre Hall, in Centre County, about an hour away. I think you might be better off starting from scratch on a new frame. No telling what you might find on that Scotty frame. Probably lots of hidden rust!
