Hi everyone!
I am new to teardrops but very excited about building.
I am very attracted to the look of the Aussie Teardrop and will probably model mine after that one to a degree (am ordering plans for the Aerodrop-which looks similar but is domestic).
I KNOW though that I am going to need some help, so if there is anyone in the Philly area willing to stop by from time to time, that would be great!
I think I understand the basic construction pretty well but there are already a couple questions.
One in particular has to do with waterproofing the edge of the plywood for the vertical sidewalls. On most home builds it looks like this is accomplished by running the roofline flush with the edge of the sidewalls and covering the exposed edge with the roof cladding material. . However, On the Aussie it looks like the roof area actually sits INSIDE the vertical sidewalls. It looks like they protect the edge of the sidewalls with black T- moulding (which really makes it look sharp)but it's hard to be sure.
While the roof cladding will be flat fiberglass or aluminum, I also saw some with corrugated aluminum sidewalls that I liked too! (which gives me room to add r-value by filling to the spaces with polyurethane foam) but, of course, need to cover that edge too!
Thoughts? (besides that I am a TOTAL newbie?
Thanks in advance for your patience with me! I'll post my pics by May!
