Wedding Presant

Postby dangerranger » Thu Oct 06, 2011 9:20 pm

Im in the planning stages of a teardrop for our youngest sons wedding. Im building something very minimalist that they can build on and personalise. I have a year to compleate it. for those that have built on a harbor freight chassis how long did your build take? the galley will only have shelfing, and the floor will only be covered with lineolium. Im thinking I want a polished alum roof, and woody sides. I have $1500 set aside for this, but could add a little if needed. Do youall think this is a reasonable amount of time and $ to complete this? Thanks DR

Sounds very reasonable for that amount of money. As far as the time frame, it always depends on how much time you have to commit to it. I plan on my build taking about a year and commiting at least 5+ hours per week.

Id say I would commit 5hrs a week but I tend to get wrapped up in these projects. they sort of take on a life of there own. wifes Ok with it tho because it keeps me off the street and out from under her feet! Moho, I see from your pics you collect old Colman gear. I have two of the red laterns myself, with the original glass. DR

Just started with the Coleman stuff actually in the past couple weeks. A complete novice when it comes to it. Check out the vintage equipment section. Lots of collectors with the knowledge as well :)

DR I like what your doing for your son and future daughter in law . Since your going basic you scan thru CL and find some good cheap trailers to start with. I will redo my smaller tear next year after I finish my big one so that are friends can use it when they want to go camping with us. It will be basic as well and will be, 3/4" ply botton, 3/4" walls, small galley (counter and shelfs inside and in galley. 2 lights and a power strip for electrical outlets. When I'm done should be less than $600, but I have a great base to start with and doors already made for it.

Cliff
In God we trust, shoot the rest and he will sort out!

Thanks Cliff, I have a boat trailer that I could start with but wanted them to start new! Moho if your glass is original it will be etched " The Sunshine Company". I got one from a yard sale, and the other was my parrents. DR
