WOW, what a wonderful site! I have spent the better part of the morning just browsing the different units and am very impressed at the skill level of some of the builders. I consider my skill level a 7.5 out of 10 I am just too picky I guess...
I have been pondering a build for some time and this site is motivating. My build, the first one for me, will be to see what I can accomplish on a budget of $1500. by way of things on sale, bartering, scavenging and the like. I want the challenge to be a way for me to be creative and allow repurpose of things that would otherwise end up as landfill.
I have already procured a 6X9 trailer frame (old pop-up) for $100. I have had new bearings and 5 lug hubs installed on the axle (bartered) and I have a set of brand new 13' tires/rims (free) put on. I have re-purposed windows, sink, electrical panel, roof top air and cabinets from a unit I scrapped out. I think Im off to a great start. I need warmer weather to continue. I will keep everyone updated and my goal is to have it in use by mid summer 2012. All I need is suggestions for a name for my unit. Until next time campers, Ken ;) ;)

Hi Ken, welcome to the forum of happy, helpful trailer builders and restorers. You have come to the right place. See, some of the locals have already thrown out the welcome mat and I suggest you make an effort to attend some of the gatherings in your neck of the woods. Good luck on your build.

Welcome!...don't forget to post pictures...a neighbour showed me a neat trick to work in colder days....he uses four Coleman kerosine lanterns around, they actually warm up the area.
This is my build thread...
