Bonjour Y'all

Postby Javanino » Sat Mar 17, 2012 10:27 pm

Howdy from the Texas Hill Country. Just joined and thought I would introduce myself. I've been a builder and around residential construction most of my life. I've always wanted to build one of these based on my own profile template. Never had the time before but since the 2008 real estate crunch, time is not a problem. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions for those that have built teardrops before. I have a bad habit of trying to reinvent the wheel. If you catch me doing that, please advise.

Cheers

Welcome aboard. Just watch that you don't over build. Remember you are building a teardrop, not a house. ... ;)

Welcome Javanino, have fun and get busy. The Hill Country is so pretty and we go there every chance we get. What part are you from? There is so much to do with the South Central group. Think you can have one ready before next weekend, they are going camping.

We're not here for a long time, just here for a good time.

Hi Javanino, welcome to the forum, the place with all of the answers for new teardrop builders. From one General Contrator and 60 year woodworker to another, good for you, planning on a TD build. I agree with Gage and his suggestion that you keep it simple. No OSHA folks will bother you about stress testing parts and pieces and no building inspectors will criticize your efforts. It is possible to build a strong, lightweight trailer, without going overboard about heavy-duty frame and outlandish thicknesses of plywood. Check out the genaric build plans on this site for a starter, and by all means try to make it to a gathering in your neck of the woods. I'm sure there are a bunch of Texas folks that are anxious to help you get started. Good luck on your build, and if you decide to make it to the West coast on your maiden run, swing on by my place in So Cal, the coffee is always on.
:D 8) Roly ~~

If yer a carpenter type guy, you'll build a teardrop in no time ! Keep it simple and keep it light.. now let the sawdust FLY !

Bonjour and bienvenue, Javanino from an old TD builder from the other end of Interstate 10 (well turn south before Jaxville, close enough).
Happy trails,
Hoyt
