TX newbie here - starting a teardrop project

Postby txcamper » Wed Mar 21, 2012 12:44 am

Hello and I'll start with a thank you to all of the incredible contributors here!

I was planning on a utility build up of a harbor freight 4x8 trailer I have. I wanted to set it up for enclosed storage and a roof top tent (my better half wasn't too thrilled about setting up a tent on top of a trailer).

During my searching for modified HF trailers I happened across tnttt and it seems I haven't left for a week. I mentioned the idea of a teardrop to my wife and to my pleasant surprise she was all for it.

With that said, we're starting the project this weekend and I figured it was time to join.

Again, thanks to all for the incredible amounts of information here and I'm looking forward to getting involved.

Glad to see a new build...
I was in the same boat a while back...
Once I finished my wife all of a sudden got in to camping, biking and hiking....
She just made curtains and a quilt for it...and can't wait to hit the camp trail again this summer...
Good luck with the build.

Hi TXCamper!
There is a wealth of fascinating information on this board. Mike and his helper elves really do a great job maintaining this board.
I can easily loose hour after hour here and I have been here for years! I wish you luck with your project.
What type of tiny trailer are you thinking about now? I'd thought about the tent on a trailer approach too, but I have had some bad luck with tent camping in bad weather. A small dry insulated space with a comfy bed in it seems like just the ticket. Especially when one miserable night out with a spouse who may be on the fence about the whole "camping thing" can deprive you both of years of low-cost adventure and enjoyment.
Keep us posted :)

Thanks for the welcome messages! We've settled on a 5x8 Benroy style.

I just started a thread in the general discussion where I'll chronicle my learning process.
