Newbie in SoCal

Postby bigherc » Fri Aug 17, 2012 11:40 pm

Hi all! I'm Matt and I live in the Los Angeles area. So I have been lurking around here a bit and even sold a teardrop on here so I figured it's about time I introduce my self. So I was first introduced to teardrops some Years ago by my brother in law Matt, some of you may remember him around here, he went by the name ma3tt. Anyhow, after I saw his I was hooked! I bought a set of plans and was set to get It started. Well, flash forward 6 yrs or so and I am finally finding myself with the time to actually build one, or two to be exact, lol! The 1st one was cool and a good learning experience, but it was a budget build. The 2nd one I built as if i was going to keep it, I didn't hold much back, and it came out really well and to be honest I almost held onto it. Reality set in and I knew my little family wasn't going to fit in it for long. So it got put up for sale and went off to it's new family in a hurry! And I couldn't have asks for a nicer family to entrust it to. So with that one gone I thought I would actually have time to build our little home, a 5 x 10, but i was blessed with an opportunity to do a custom build for a nice woman in the bay area, and ours was is once again on the back burner, or so I thought. long story short, sort of, lol, I decided that i did 't want to watch my daughter cry as another trailer left the house and thought, why not build hers and ours side by side  hers with be a 4 x 9 and ours a 5x10. The family and I are super excited to finally make our own! So, that's where we are at this point, I may do a build thread of the dualing teardrops. I will post it here if I decide to. I look forward to making to one of the gatherings once we have ours done and meeting you all.

Hi, and a belated welcome, just saw this one and the reference to Matt. I really liked his posts and cooking was a common thread as well. So I hope you have happily camped out and your daughter is smiling now. 8) Joanie 8)

Thanks all! Yea Matt is a supper fun guy to camp with, he gave me my 1st dutch oven years ago and now I am really getting into them! I love to cook! And yes, gotta keep the family happy :) It's my 2 yr old that has the hardest time with letting them go, but she is also the one who helps me with every step of the build, She's my little tomboy!

Update- Client's trailer is done! and delivered last weekend! Didn't get to build our trailer along with it but that's ok. Going to probably start the 5x10 next week but we will see if we end up keeping it, lol, seems like they always end up selling before I finish them, lol. Here's a link to a pic of the proud new owner.

Welcome ( Back to the forum )

Just checked out your web page. Nice work.

You better not let that little girl cay and get her TD started and finished. I’m sure she will allow you to use it too.

Remember 'Teardrop Time'.......Take your time, you don't have to have it finished NOW.
