Hey, y'all ...

I've been bitten by the TD bug. CFO has approved the project and as soon as I can wrap my head around the specifics, I'll be starting the build (well, as the CFO funds each step ... geez, the paperwork is gonna be plain turrible!) I'm hoping to evoke the look of a classic "woodie" car.

Even though I've a "custom" model built in SketchUp, based on the Grumman 2 ... I'm probably gonna have to modify it a bit to fit on a NT 5' x 8' frame. It's gonna be a bit taller, 4' 6" to be precise, and 10' in length. The interior dimension is the driving factor ... it MUST be 60" wide and able to accomodate a queen sized mattress (got a bulldog who thinks he only "allows" US to use HIS bed from time to time, and since I can't fit a king mattress on the frame ...). I've read a ton of the build threads, but keep coming back to the Silver Beatle, the Travelear and the Wyoming Woody. Great resources! Buncha others too, but as my brain cell is frazzled just trying to keep up with the artistry of these three, I'll probably end up steali- ... uh, borrowing ... a number of their ideas.

First questions:

1. As I'm going to be "restricted" to the NT frame, I'll have to lap the sidewalls to the frame and floor. i plan to build the floor as suggested by Ryan in his Wyoming Woody build. How to securely attach the sidewalls? Screw/glue to the floor? Bolt to the frame side? Both?

2. With the lapped sidewalls (.40 aluminum sheathing + 3/4" frame + 7mm engineered flooring [thanks, Tom!]) ... how much clearance am I gonna be looking at to the tires?

to your questions and you might want to post them in the building section. this one is for introducing. Glad to hear you are excited about building I am building mine right now too. Good luck and I will watch for your build thread!!
