Yup ~ I'm a "newbie" ~ looking for my perfect Teardrop!

hi Folks,

so glad these sites are here ~ and am looking forward to all the good info and help .. and maybe one day being informed enough, myself, to pass it along.

anyways, I'm becoming "Home-Free" ~ i.e. moving out of my house here in Portland, OR. / putting everything in storage for perhaps a year .. and going on the road ~ by no later than the 1st week of August 2013! I've yet to find my dream-teardrop .. and perhaps someone will know of one for me.

here's my requirements :

* Not fancy needed ~ it's more about safety / sturdiness and a kitchen galley area
* 800 lbs. or LESS [/u][/u]! I have a 2006 Toyota Prius and definitely need to keep the weight down
* this one's a statement And a question ; my car insurance (State Farm) says they will Not insure a trailer unless it's a brand name.. something they can therefore look up the value for .. now I don't know if that's the absolute truth for just them or everyone .. so info will be appreciated..
but so far, I'm Just looking at brand-name-used-reasonably priced tear drops of all sorts! Any leads?
* can need some (minor) repairs, can have an empty kitchen area that will be furnished .. but eventually I'll want some electrical hook-ups and a space to cook.
* price range a bit negotiable ~ depends on what I'm getting.

THANK YOU MUCH ! ~ JP

Welcome and good luck finding your dream trailer. How nice that you will have that freedom to travel.

As for the insurance....I'm wondering if it just depends on what agent happens to answer the phone when you call, because I have seen other people here on the forum who have home builds who say they insure with State Farm. And I had a similar experience when I was looking for insurance. Someone else on the forum said Good Sam would not insure a home build. I called Good Sam, told them my trailer was home built and they said not a problem. Go figure. No one says that you have to have your trailer insured by the same agency that insures your car. Or for that matter, maybe approach another company with the idea of insuring both as a package and they might make you a good deal. I've seen Nationwide mentioned on here.
Life is sooooo good.........

Welcome! Going on the road is going to be a great adventure! As for your insurance, I have my homebuilt insured through State Farm. It sounds like you need to change Agents.
