New member from Daytona Beach

Hello all. New member from Daytona Beach (well Port Orange actually, but how many people know where that is?) just wanting to introduce myself.

Have liked teardrops since I first saw one at a car show when I was a kid (late 60's or early 70's). I have been reading through lots of your build journals here to get ideas, and some of them have me in awe (KCStudly, Aggie79, DMcCam, and many others), and make me question my own abilities to create one that would be worth posting. I am thinking about doing a first attempt on a 4' x 8' teardrop using a HF trailer, and if that works well, using it as a mobile HAM shack for emergency communications. This would allow me to build up my skills before trying to build slightly larger (5' x 10' or 6' x 10') quality build, but who knows how it will all end up.

I have even made my first purchase towards the build, I ordered the receiver hitch for my TV (Kia Sportage). Of course the hitch is rated much higher than the towing capacity (3500 lbs. vs. 1195lbs.), but better safe than sorry. Next up will be the wiring harness. After that will be the trailer, followed by...... well, you all know the drill.

Kerry

Welcome to the board! Lived in Port Orange when I was at ERAU, that area is so different now. There are a few HAMs in this forum (not me) so I'm sure they can answer any questions.

Hey Kerry,
welcome to the forum. I know exactly where P.O. is. I use to live up from the Hardees towards the bikerbar. After a few run-in with popo I decided they wasn't going to leave me alone so I left Fl. I use to do security at the Ironhorse for B.W. and Biketober Fest. Good luck in your build.
