new guy from central Indiana parting winni to build teardrop

Hi,my name Chris and I am planning to build a teardrop. I had plans to restore my 72 winnabago that is in rough shape but after some thinking I decided to build my 6'3"x10'10" utility trailer.(was a small camper at one time) Plan to use all the supplies that was to be used on the rv to build it,plus the roof a/c and generator from it. After thinking about the 8mpg and insurance just decided the camper to hard to deal with. I do construction an will probally be staying in this a week at a time. cant wait to get started hope to have pics up tomorrow of the trailer. I also has 2 new rim/tires and 2000#axel (that a story of its own) But glad to be a member and will keep looking and getting Ideas for my build.

Thanks for the welcomes. There all kinds of rv places around was thinking of window shopping for ideas. But it should be an exciting build.

Speaking of gatherings, there's one coming in a few weeks....one at potato creek up near south bend, and a rather informal one at Lincoln state park. Verna, what's the date on that?


The informal isn't a sanctioned event, but a few people who can't make it to south bend....so we were just going to hang out. You aught o come to one of the events.....it's a good time for sure, even if you don't have a finished TD.

I would probally be interested in a closer one I will lookup where its at. To see a few in person probably help have idea for design but like try find one before I build. At cost of materials its a one time chance for me.

Welcome from southern Indiana (Evansville/Newburgh). Would love to see pictures of your build. Definitely start a build thread. Hope to see you at some Hoosier events in the future.

Saturday night is pot luck dinner night. If you can't stay the duration of the gathering at least plan on visiting us Sat. night the food is always good and plentiful. All you need to bring is a plate and some silverware.

Thanks for the information. I am a little far from Lafayette, but not to far. I am about 2miles from the Indiana Dunes State Park right at the southern tip of Lake Michigan, Porter/Chesterton area.

Well, went to post the pic of my window and trailer and my laptop completly died, go figure 2 months out of warranty. But I stillhave trusty tablet im llearning. But im from area little south of anderson but done work on I65 Lebanon lil south of Lafayette and also worked 231 bypass around Dale, folton ave. diamond ave and the highway east out Evansville through Chandler. So at one point I have probably worked close in Indiana. Building interstates on reason to build drop so dont have waste money in hotels. I dont know if it be classified as teardrop or small camper. But I am really goin try make some events and meet few people to get ideas for my build.
