Newbie from Western Colorado

Postby JohnCarls » Wed Dec 11, 2013 2:56 pm

After lots of research here and elsewhere, I took the plunge last year and built Kim and my teardrop. Did my best to construct this so we could haul it where ever we could get our Trooper. So far 6 or so outings and it's still good and it's great being able to camp where anyone with a larger unit can't. One thing we've been a little surprised about is the level of attention the TD gets when we are in a campground. It seems quite a few people are seeing the pluses of not hauling your entire house with you when you head out.

Hope I will be able to kick a few ideas back in, cause I did grab some from the forum while building.

Welcome John & Kim
You are going to meet some wonderful people here on the Forum and on the trails.
You are in a wonderful area for Teardrop camping.....Sandi and I made it thru there this past summer with "Miss Piggy"
There are a number of Gatherings in and around your area, and some a little farther afield. But, once you have attended one with your new teardrop, you will be hooked!
Did I mention "Great People"?

Thanks Brian and Sandi,

We certainly intend to get to a group gathering or two this coming season. I checked out your build journal - holly cow, what a project. Hope we get to see Miss Piggy in person some day.

Soon as I figure out how you do the build journal thing, I'll try to post a few from our project. I did a few things a little different than many of the builds, some may be good ideas others may turn out to be woops. It'll be interesting to get some feedback.

Meeting new people that share a love for Teardrop camping is our new goal! :)
I don't remember what I had on our build journal........but I do have a ton of pictures in my album (in reverse order).

Thanks Bc,

I know we will enjoy the teardrop'ers, and the site. Even though most of our trips are out off the grid somewhere in the backcountry we do enjoy getting together with people who are a little "odd" like we are!

Working now on posting some of the pics of the beginning - the frame.
