Hello from Northern California

Postby vwool » Fri Feb 28, 2014 10:22 am

Hello my name is Victor. I am new to teardrops, but hooked when we rented one from vacations in a can in January. After that trip to Bodega Bay, we knew this would be the way we would want to camp in the future. We have always tent camped and have been reluctant to get a trailer.

The place rented from has stopped making custom teardrops, so I started looking on Craigslist for used ones. The ones I saw online were out of our budget so I decided to look for used.

We found the Facebook page for crybaby trailers (yes the one Tabitha has called the money pit), liked the photos they had so gave John a call and started talking to him about options. After talking with. My wife we decided to order one.

A few days later Tabitha posted a review online and my stomach went into knots. Even reading it on here I felt like I made a mistake.

We travelled down to the shop a couple of weekends ago and were able to take a look at the start of the trailer. So far we feel good and service has been great. Whenever I have a question, he gets back to me very fast. I still get moments where I think of Tabitha's trailer and get knots in my stomach.

The wife and I are already in money, so it is only fair to give him a chance. So far he has been great to work with. I will let everyone know how the TD comes out.

I can't wait to go camping.

Welcome Victor! What part of Northern Ca. are you in.... I'm sure all will end well...... As we used to say in the construction management field, and thats what you are doing in a sense, is having a contractor construct a Teardrop for you....Communication, Communication, Communication. Just my 2 cent's worth
I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction, the world will have a generation of idiot's.

I grew up in The town of Sonoma, but live in Suisun City now.

Here is a pic of the trailer we rented in January.

Welcome Victor, Good luck with your TD build, I think if you stay on top of whats going on it might make difference, plus this guy I'm sure does'nt want any negative publicity! My name is Ernie, I live in Wa. state, I'm also waiting for my TD to be built, with a pick-up date of middle of May. Please let us know how things turn out!

Welcome vwool! We are not far from you in Lake County. How soon before your tear is ready? We are attending a gathering at Lake Shasta May 1-4. Will you be ready by then?

We should be picking it up this weekend, but that could always change. We are interested in attending the Shasta event. I work on Friday but could get up there late Friday night. Do you think that would be ok? If so we would then leave on Sunday.

It will be great having you. You can do what works for you. Totally laid back! Call Antlers for your reservation. Also check the Jefferson State Forum for more information.

Welcome to the Forum.
Hope yours works out as planned and you are able to make it to the Dam.
Last year the Dam Gathering was our first Gathering and the first time out of the driveway with our almost finished "Miss Piggy".
We were hooked immediately and ended up having a great summer.
9 States, 1 Province, 12,000 miles and 44 nights in our TD. Love the lifestyle and the people we have met!

Welcome aboard Victor,
I have been wanting to visit Northern Cal and now that I have finally retired, I have high hopes in getting there this summer. :)
I am still working on my CT conversion and have had it out a couple of time to help tweak the build.

I am sure you will have great times in your TD and I wish you happy trails! 8)
Happy Camping & Building,
John (JC)

Welcome to the forum, Victor. You will find that TD and the people who camp with them are a GREAT bunch of folks.
If you can attend the Dam Gathering you will meet a lot of people in our camping circle whose paths frequently cross and who have been camping together for a number of years now.
Click on the link below to see the event my spouse and I organize/host in the Redwoods....still space available if you want to sign up. You will meet many people from all over the U.S. (& Canada this year) who come for a family friendly summer camp. :D

Probably going to do motel this June and July so I can streamline my photography, but I may swing by and seen what all you folks are towing behind you if I'm in Humboldt Redwoods ... which is likely, as I hope to find another world record maple.

We were offered a refund on this trailer and have yet to get it back. Our trailer has been sold and no refund. It has been almost 5 months. I do not recommend this company.
