Took the easy route and bought a Little Guy Silver Shadow 6X10. It was the right choice because we have two small dogs and the king size bed which worked out great for all of us. I am retired from the U. S. Coast Guard and U. S. Civil Service, my wife if retired from U. S. Civil Service. Just prior to buying the TD we owned a 21 foot Toyota Winnebago Warrior Motorhome. The mileage was good with the Toyota front end but it was a real bear to drive. I wanted something that I could pull with my truck, that is when we starting doing the research on something smaller. Our first impression of the new TD was very good and we felt we made the right choice. I have seen some of the homemade TD's and really love the way they are constructed to individual tastes. Unfortunately I don't have the skill set to build one so that is why the commercially made TD was our choice. We picked up our TD in Buford, GA and headed for the Smokies for a mini vacation and test run of the tear drop. After a few days in the Smokies we headed for the Nashville area and then back to NW Louisiana. We are now headed for the Ouachita Mountains and on to the Buffalo River for some rafting while the weather is still cool. Forgot to mention that this TD has AC installed but as you all know, electricity is required. Some of the necessities purchased was a porta poti, pop up dressing room tent, and wheel boot lock. Will be looking for a decent 10X10 Canopy tent. This TD forum has a wealth of information on how to make life easier when traveling and setting of my Tear Drop. We are looking forward to meeting like minded tear droppers in the future. We understand that a TD event is located on Lake Bistineau in October of this year (2014).

Welcome to the forum.

Not everyone builds, and you can still customize to your own liking even if you didn't build it.

The Smokies is a great place to test out your camper.

Enjoy camping
