Long time reader, first time poster from NE Iowa.

Good Afternoon fellow teardroppers! So I've been reading over the sight for awhile now, lurking in the shadows and trying to get ideas as my wife and I slowly design our teardrop inspired camper down the the finest detail. (And just when I think we're done designing, we think of something new to add in or adjust) But, I though it was about time that I created an account and once the build starts, keep you all abreast of its creation and frustrations. Let the fun begin!

First , There is know perfect teardrop. You will never get it just right. In the mean time you will be missing the fun of TD camping. Take the plunge.

Welcome! Have fun with your build! I would recommend going to a gathering to see some Tears to get some ideas. There are some Tearjerker events in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin that you could attend. Either camp with us or just come for a day.

Welcome.....As Tim said there are several gatherings in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota and you are welcome at all of them. Gatherings are a great place to get first hand experience with teardrops and their owners. Check the Midwest section here and on the Tearjerkers site. Check out the "TD Friendly Websites " link in the heading above.

Sorry for not mentioning Illinois. They are great people to camp with. They even come up and see us in the St. Croix Chapter periodically.

I will second the come to a gathering suggestion, as I said to newcomers contemplating their first build at Tears in Hell this last weekend plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery. I have gotten many ideas that I used at various gatherings, and no one cares that you do! Might be a good tread!
And since you Do have experience, you are building an aircraft not a tank

Thanks for the great info! I do a lot of tent camping in the NE Iowa, SE Minnesota and Western side of Wisconsin, so I will definitely have to drop in on a camping event sometime later this summer. (Unfortunately for me, I'm stuck in Southern Alabama all of May and June for some military training, so it kind of kills most of my camping weekends this year) I've got some designs hand drawn out, but I'm working on slowly learning and adding them to Sketch-up. I'll keep you all posted when I have something worthy of updating.

And I almost forgot. Here's a photo. I'm the one on the left.
