Hello,
This forum wants newbies to introduce themselves so here I am. My name is Ione (eye-own) and I am a potential teardrop trailer owner. My brother, Greg, already owns one and has been trying to convince me to buy one. Why am I hesitating? Mostly because it's fear of the unknown.

Will I have fun with it?
Are teardrop and ttt owners friendly and helpful?
Will I be able to meet people?
Will my dog like it?
I'm single, what's it like camping solo?

If you can help me figure out whether a teardrop trailer is right for me, I'd really appreciate it.

P.S. I refuse to camp in a tent anymore. I'm too old. :)

Hi I'm Ione's brother, Greg! I'm a relative newbie too, since June 2013 so just a year. I've attended 2 gatherings and made dozens of new friends while learning new things I never had a reason to think about before (solar power, axles, tongue weight, 12V wiring, how to back up a trailer, etc.). Help my sister out and give her some good advice!

Hi Ione! I think you will LOVE teardropping! The first thing that I found out about Teardroppers, at my first gathering, was how friendly they are. I went not knowing anyone, and have made soooo many friends along the way. It's the perfect activity for singles that enjoy camping. You can do your own thing or join in, whatever suits you. My own dog is a homebody, and he's a bit too big for my teardrop, but lots of people bring their dogs, leashed, of course, and the pups seem happy to be there. You've probably seen your brothers video by now and can see that we are all having fun! You can always check out a few gatherings before you commit. My advice, go for it!

Hi! My advice... Take your brothers teardrop for a spin!

Okay, so maybe he is possessive and won't let his teardrop out of his sight... Rent one. Try it out. Attend your nearest teardrop gathering.

Good luck!

Ione

I have been camping for 62 years, most of that time in tents and the tear drop is way more comfortable!
Will I have fun with it? It depends entirely on you but I would be willing to bet $ that you would. It is hard not to.
Are teardrop and ttt owners friendly and helpful? My wife was concerned when we went to our first TearJerker gathering and they purposefully made sure we participated, helpful labsiolutely....
Will I be able to meet people? The trailers tend to make that happen where ever you go, but again it depends on you.
Will my dog like it? Depends on the dog but all of the ones I have seen do.
I'm single, what's it like camping solo? This one I can't comment on as I have been married for 42 years but all of the single tear owners keep coming and seem to enjoy it.

There are a number of single ladies who are very much a part of the teardrop scene, hopefully some of them will respond. Teardrops can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. Ours is at the far end of elaborate. As suggested borrow brothers or just come to one of the gatherings in a tent or rent a tear and see for your self.

We camp with many single ladies who we met either through here or at gatherings. They love it. Will you met people had to make me laugh. You can't help but meet people in a teardrop. Everyone wants to see it. Not a good trailer to have of you want to be left alone! In the last 5 years we have met well over a hundred trailer folks and are proud to call at least 30 of them friends. It's a great community.

Welcome top this great site lone 1st will you have fun well thats up to you if your outgoing you will if you don't like meeting new people you want (and be prepared to make you gas stops longer for all the people that want to see your trailer) 2nd are TD people friendly well I don't own a TD but never meet a owner of a TD that wasn't friendly to me (I have a cargo) we are fiendly also 3rd yes Lone you can meet lots of new people 4th most dogs love it like sleeping in your house with you and I'm married so I never camp solo but every time we go camping I meet single ladies that need help getting there trailer backed in or lights don't work right or something is wrong with the trailer and I try to help them (thats just my way I like helping people) so I would suggest you hurry up and get you one but if your still not sure ask brother to let you use his or rent one for a weekend and go camping see how many great new friends you meet.

You ask if you will meet people  sorry but oh yeah. At every gas station and store, in the campground. These are magnets. I have had people take pictures of mine and one fellow asked if he could measure it while his wife just kept shaking her head. I go solo camping mostly, I prefer it. For my peace of mind I stick to the State Parks in Minnesota , but I have gone into the Superior National Forest for some off grid or boondock camping. My dog loves the teardrop and get silly excited when I am hooking it up. If you want to go camping with fellow campers these folks are as friendly and helpful as they come. Many times I have seen someone post when and where they are going camping and one or to others join in. On the tearjerkers site you can find groups by state and they have organized campouts which are a lot of fun as well.
They are flexible for the type of camping you want to do on each trip. Sometimes I use a side tent sometimes I don't.

You do have to like small spaces, and being cozy. Sitting inside during a rain or just to be inside they are a bit small. But if you like being outside and cooking outside and meeting new people you will enjoy it. Like someone already suggested, borrow your brothers and give it a go.
