In over my head in WY

Postby 3GKnight » Wed May 28, 2014 10:29 pm

Hello all,

Stumbled across this great forum when looking for gallery ideas. Just purchased a Kenskill model 10. Pretty rough shape but I suppose that's why they call it a project.

The metal is all pretty solid. Just one nasty tear in the aluminum. All of the exterior plywood is shot, but the cabinets at the front and inside are ok. The gallery is bad to fair. Probably not worth saving and that prompted the gallery idea search. Lots of great stuff out there! I've been looking for something like this for a while. I think it'll look pretty sharp behind my Xterra.

It's a Kenskill model 10, serial #328. I think I've narrowed it's birthday to sometime in the 40's, but can anyone be more specific?

Thanks!

No, the shovel isn't a period piece...

That's a piece of history.

I don't have the answers. If you don't get the the ones you're looking for here, I'd give George Wilkerson a call up the road a couple hours from me (in Victor Montana). Here's his website: http://teardropparts.com/index.html He's dealt with many a vintage tear.

Two-bits says he can give you the year it was made. Four-bits says that bird will fly again.

Finally getting started on the build. Ordered axles early February and they finally showed up!

More rough fit.

Frame ready for paint. A bit over-engineered but hey, it's just money.

Just talked with George with Tear Drop Fix-it-Shop. Great guy! Helped me more than I asked for.

But I think I broke both our hearts when I described what I threw away.... I just didn't know what I had when I bought the original Ken-Skill.

So for anyone else with an original Ken-Skill. Keep the original stuff!! Either to use yourself or to sell. It could be worth something.
