Checking in from Alabama

Postby Brandon Libby » Sun Jun 22, 2014 10:47 am

Hey all,

My wife and I are looking forward to our first teardrop camper build this August.

I built Porsche race cars for a living for several years and hope that at least some of those skills will cross over into building a 5x8 teardrop. We do a lot of remote camping and have grown tired of cramming our vehicle to the hilt before driving many miles off road, getting to the camp site, offloading everything, setting up camp, and then reversing the process when it's time to go home. Hopefully the teardrop will cut down on the amount of prep time required before heading out on an adventure.

The goal is to build it tough enough to withstand some serious offroading; to have a full galley, shower, ARB awning with enclosure, frame mounted 20 gallon water tank, fridge, 12v electrical, ample storage, and make all of this happen at 1500lbs fully loaded -or less. Wish us luck!

Welcome Brandon!
:D
Take a good look around. We have some off-roaders here who have
built some impressive trailers.

Welcome to Brandon and wife, You sound like a real camping family. There are lots of things on this forum, everything from building your own, to collecting and cooking in cast iron to women's' interest. I invite your wife to check in too. and You are always welcome to check in and join the Tearjerkers camping group. We all about camping and have lots of get togethers. With being in Ala you would be in the Dixie Chapter. We are active but having the other close states near us some of us attend their campouts too. Enjoy our forum!!! What part of AL are you from?
