Newbie from the Calif Gold Country

Postby Mini Teardrop Nani » Fri Aug 29, 2014 4:05 pm

Hello all, my name is Vickie and this is my first EVER forum post so please forgive the awkwardness, and be kind. I stumbled onto this site just after I purchased my Teardrop so I was not able to gather any helpful info or advise but happily I am thrilled with my TD. It was after a long road trip, sleeping in sleezy cheap motels, and eating at fast food restaurants, that I knew there had to be a better way to see the world, or at least the USA. So when I returned home I immediately went shopping for a teardrop trailer that I could pull with my Mini Cooper and I am happy to say I have no regrets. My maiden voyage was two nights at a local campground with two of my grandsons and I am hooked. Looking forward to meeting some great Teardrop campers and making some new friends.

Some of us, like 3, are going up to Fallen Leaf lake in Tahoe on the weekend of the 12th of Sept. Trying to get in at least 1 last trip this year. At the outside, I may do something up in the Crystal Basin first week of Oct. they close the campgrounds right after that. That can be a cold one...had snow the last time. Some of us have both teardrops and small vintage type standies. You're into it now...gotta have both types of trailer for the conditions. Next one in this area is going to be early June up at Fallen Leaf lake. There will be probably 45+ vintage trailers tears, airstreams, canned hams etc... Doug

Hi Vicky and Welcome. I grew up in Grass Valley and Love the whole area and the history.I am currently reading a book by HW Brands called " The Age of Gold" about the history of the gold rush and how it transformed the world. Fascinating, IMHO. Tear drops are both functional and beautiful and it sound like you are well on your way to building great memories. New friends are good too.
Enjoy, Chris

Thanks all for the welcome, looks like I will be going to Pismo Beach the last weekend of Sept for a family reunion, we'll see how I do on this trip with the TD. I will probably keep it local until next year, I will start filling in my schedule and getting more information from ya'll in the mean time.

Welcome Vicky..... from just down the hill a bit in Waterford. Hwy 108 and 395 of the eastern slope is my favorite fishing and camping go to's. Just might run into you. Enjoy the new teardrop as often as you can.

Happy Camping!........Larry

Welcome to this great site. When you start to venture out look for a gathering in Las Vegas and meet some great people. We camp in winter more than the summer.

Welcome from Southern California.
Campers are for sleeping in, almost everything else should happen outside.
