A little background:
Name's James, I'm an engineer by profession and avid do-it-yourself'er. I stumbled up on a photo of a teardrop a while ago and thought it would be perfect for me, my wife, and my toddler to do some weekend camping. After talking with a few people and doing a little "googling" I found out that most build these themselves. Cue the obsession. I've been doing non-stop research, picture browsing, and looking at this forum.
My current plans are to build an oversized model big enough to sleep at least 3 (2 adults and 1 kid) with a 4-sleeper (2 adults and 2 kids) being preferable if I can get a good design going. With my current situation - time and money wise - I'm going to be taking my time and getting a good plan together and I hope to begin before the end of the year.
I look forward to talking with as many of you as possible and learning from the folks that have "been there, done that" to make this a great project that me and my family can enjoy.
