Hi, new to this so bear with me. Started building a 5 x9 teardrop from scratch. Working on chassis now, trying to figure out what type of axle to use. I'm partial to leaf springs. Post some pics when I figure out how to .posting.php?mode=post&f=40#

Welcome. The axle decision... that's important, this forum has many discussions on weight, wheel size, hub bolt pattern , positioning etc.. and can be overwhelming but on the bright side see how much you will learn.
and at the end you realize... it was not that bad after all.

FYI... I have not figured out how to load Photos but I have posted my build in Google + if your interested in seeing .. let me know

There are tons of sites on this topic once you start researching

At 5 x 9 you will probably come in somewhere around 1500 pounds. The type of axle is far less important than dialing in to the right weight capacity.

I would like to say I just purchased a 5 x10 flat bed trailer with my first torsion axle suspension and notice each tire reacts singularly to rough spots without transmitting the shock thru the axle to the other tire.
Growing older but not up !

Welcome from another Masshole! :)

I too used a torsion axle for my build and it rides like a dream - no bouncing around.

Good luck with your build and lets see lots of pictures
