New to TnTTT via seasonal outdoors career

Postby Rurfen » Thu Oct 09, 2014 7:41 pm

Howdy! I'm presently working in the mojave making sure all of the designated routes are easy to follow, i.e. have the same signs that match the maps. I'm looking forward to spending some of my surplus time and my minuscule extra budget building a TTT that can double as storage for helping me move from job to the next, while also giving me the option to camp out while looking for a new residence at each job. I have a fair amount of hand tools and a decent engineering perspective, but I don't have many resources spend acquiring new (large) tools at least.

So, just saying hi and introducing myself a bit, happy building to you all!

Welcome!
:D

Have you done any speculation of sketching yet?
Any idea of the volume and height you may need?
Take your time checking out the different topics
and you can get lots of ideas. Cost a factor? If you
have time many parts can be had at discounts or
free, just keep looking. Simple can be relatively
inexpensive. Good Luck!

Welcome!! Google or ???? Take a look at the Foamie section. You can build one with a jig saw, knife, paint roller and a pair of scissors. Good luck!!

Hi Rurfen,
Welcome to a great site with great folks

I am glad to hear we have someone working to help keep us on the right roads, so to speak :applause:

As several before me have stated, you have come to a great site for information and ideas on building or converting a trailer that will meet your needs. This site includes Tear Drops, Cargo Trailer Conversions, and even small travel trailers.
I was doing prospecting in my spare time and ended up converting a 6x10 cargo trailer for my needs and desire to travel some of the back roads and trails. I turned out that my wife needed to be in Minnesota and the trailer took a backseat to being a cargo/tiny travel trailer for a while ... am I glad the moving is over :duh: and I can get back to finishing the camping trailer that I started :hammer:

So ... between moving in to a house (mods, updating, and such) and preparing for snow, heating the garage, etc. I am getting electric into the trailer as soon as I get the remaining hardware needed on Monday and will post pics in my gallery ... and get camping :vroom:

Again, welcome aboard and try to decide what you need and want and then go from there; there are always good used TDs & TTTs on the market as well as new ... and as several have mentioned, you can also build from scratch ...

Good luck with you future TD/TTT and happy camping 8)
Happy Camping & Building,
John (JC)
