Hello from Lincoln, NE.
I started getting interested in Teardrops a little over 6 months ago. I looked at ones to buy and started looking at how so many people seem to be or have built their own. I knew I could do this as well and decided it would be a fun project. I wanted a small camper that would have a deck on the front that is large enough to haul my ROKON to hunting camps and such.
I bought a trailer kit and modified it, made it longer and put a deck on it and welded all the bolt together pieces. Then I built a 2x4 deck with and covered the bottom with sheet metal. Then I filled in the cavities with marine grade pour in foam. Then covered it with 3/4" plywood. This makes for a floor with 3.5" of insulation that will not absorb water. I made the fender wells under the deck and lined them with fiberglass. This seals the fender wells and keeps the wood from rotting.
Now I am in the process of building the side walls and roof and rear hatch. The camper is 68" wide by 8' long, but the deck up front makes it 12' long altogether.
Will post some pictures as soon as I figure out how to lower the image size so they can be uploaded.
Thanks for the add.
