Central Indiana, excited about teardrops

Postby corymike756 » Thu Aug 27, 2015 11:51 am

After too many years sleeping unhappily alone in tents, the wife has finally agreed that she would camp with me if I built a camper. With a limited budget, and my preference for semi-primitive camping, teardrops seem like the perfect fit. I have good building and fabrications skills, I just need to settle on a design that will work for us. I have been considering something similar to the Wild Goose style as this would afford her some stand up changing space. I am definitely open to suggestions and ideas as this looks like it will end up being an over winter project (she will just have to park outdoors for one more winter).

So is there a galley in the wild goose? I like the idea of being able tostand up but still need a galley. :)

Thanks for the welcome, and that get together sounds great! Salamonie is just a hop and a skip up the road, will ask the wife if she wants to tag along when she gets home

Hey, another Newbie here, about 30 miles south of you in Cicero, Indiana I am taking the easy way out, I bought a 5 X 8 New Wave Tear Drop from GA. I go pick in up in a couple weeks. I also want to build one. Hit me up I would drive up and help some through the winter.

I may have to take you up on that Terry. I hope to be able to get my chassis jut before the gathering, but it may still be a while before I begin building in earnest. Plans are still evolving, the more I read the more I change. LOL I am hoping to go either foamie or foam hybrid. My TV is a 20 yr old Oldsmobile with a mfg max to weight of 1000lbs and max tongue wt of 100lbs. Keeping things light is going to be the name of the game.
