Welcome greygoos 8) The best suggestion I can offer is to make a pros and cons list. Start with choosing which shape, size/sleeping area, then what features you do or do not want. Once you have a (semi) final list you can start making your design plan. Just remember these things seem to be a continuous work in progress....those plans wil evolve and so will the camper even after it is built and well in use. For me the one thing I am making every effort to cover not only what I want in the build now but what upgrades I hope to add down the line is the wiring. I am trying to make sure I have run wires for all current and future features before I insulate and close up walls. I would rather have a few ounces of unused wires in the walls than to have to tear things up to run them later or have ugly wires or conduits showing.

Thats my 2 cents worth. Keep prowling the forums, and don't be afraid to ask questions. These folks are awesome with answers

Something that can really help is to go to one of the "gatherings", then you can see dozens of designs and construction methods.

Also, watch this little video compilation, it gave me some great ideas and it is fun to watch!

Oh yes, there is definitely that. I am going to my first gathering next week and I can't wait to get a look at some of these great tears up close and personal.
