Hello everyone

Postby jays69bird » Sun Jan 31, 2016 5:49 pm

Greetings , my name is Jay and I found this board while doing research on teardrop campers. I use to camp with a Coleman pop-up and then moved up to a Wilderness 22ft travel trailer. We had three kids and just loved it. As the kids grew up the camper sat in the yard and fell into disrepair and I put it up for sale three years ago. My wife and I talk about getting back into camping, however I do not want to haul around a thirty five foot 5th wheel monster like some of my friends own. Which brought me to the tiny campers, years ago I was at a car show with one of my cars. This was a big event and multiple vendors where there, one was a dealer who had a display of factory teardrops .
I have to admit they caught my eye, simple basic camping, reminded me of young days with a JC Penny pup tent, yet you were out of the weather. My adult son is into woodworking and I thought what a neat project for us to do together ! I have restored a couple of old cars and a motorcycle but this is building something from the ground up, putting our own touches on it ! I'm really taken by the Widget, but I'm still looking and something else may catch my eye. Thanks for letting me join !

Hi Jay, welcome aboard. You came to the right place to get info on TD builds. Check out the hall of fame, you will find the perfect size and shape to suit your needs. A father/son build, sounds like a great plan. Good luck, and take pics as you go along.
:) 8) Roly, the li'l ol' So Calif woody TD guy.

Welcome to the Forum Jay... :shake hands:

It is great to have a hand with your son in building your own camper and then when it is finished, knowing you have a nice cozy place with hard walls to spend the night or the week, or...
:applause:

It ill be interesting to see what you come up with... Hmmm, you may have to build two TD's, one for you and one for your son...
 :pictures:
Happy Camping & Building,
