Hello from Northern Illinois

Postby WanderingFool » Thu Mar 03, 2016 12:45 pm

Hello all

Doug here, I've been lurking since for 6 months or so, and I just bought a ~30 year old pop up to tear down and build my monstrosity on. As I'm making this up as I go along, I expect it will take much longer than I expect. A lesson I recently learned with my fall shed rebuilding project (I finished shingling the roof Christmas Eve). As such, I'm shooting for finishing this Labor Day 2016, but fully expect it not to be ready until Memorial Day 2017.

I'm an avid DIYer, which is another reason I know this will take forever, I'm easily distracted, and my wife has project list she deems higher priority. My recent projects include my 16X8x13 loft shed (trailer parts storage). It is done except for a coat of paint. Another recent project is my Shapeoko2 CNC carving machine (which might get an expanded bed so I can use it for trailer parts).

My ideas for the trailer are on my recently started build log: http://dougscamperbuild.blogspot.com/

Welcome Doug. Check out the Land of Lincoln Chapter of Tear Jerkers or the Midwest section here. There are several gatherings listed you are invited to. It does not matter what you camp in now, come and join us. The best way to get a build going is to see some that are done. Even if you can't come and camp, you are welcome to come visit and meet other home builders. There is a gathering in Lena in May. Not far from McHenry!

I actually already have that meet up on my calendar. I haven't been out to Lake Le Aqua Na in years. Sounds like a good first trip for the season :)
