Welcome to this forum! There are many ideas and opinion's on how a TearDrop trailer should be built. Bottom line, build what you like. When I first started building trailers, I copied a 1960's Benroy. The shape itself was very close to the original, but the inside and the galley was functional. After my first trailer, I continued to research as much as I could. I found some built with very little leg room inside and others with the galley with so many features that the trailers weighed over 1000 pounds. I've found that the original TD's weighed somewhere around 700 pounds. I've also found that the frames were built with heavy steel and axles that could support 3000 pounds. Some of the original TD trailer frames only used angle iron with just a plywood base. My personal opinion and belief is that you don't have to over build the frame that only supports 400-500 pounds of wood and aluminum. There is so much to consider! Do you really need to insulate the floor and walls? Do you need A/C in a 4'X8' space? I for one don't spend that much time in my trailer. What type of vehicle will you be towing with? Do you want to build an original design or would you like to replicate an old Kit or Benroy? So many things to consider. I hope you find what you like, and I hope you post pictures of your progress. Online pictures are a good source of ideas but you might want to go to a TD gathering and see what people have done. If you have any questions, this is a place to ask
