My first teardrop build is underway!

Postby jack-l57 » Fri Mar 18, 2016 2:56 pm

New member from Colorado! I've lost my joy in tent camping and have had a strong interest in teardrops for about 3 years. I'm biting the bullet and building a teardrop. I started on February 24th and hope to have it finished for the summer camping season. A big shout out to all those who post their builds, I would be lost without your experience and guidance! Follow my build "Colorado Flatlander". I was having so much fun with the build that I didn't get started until recently on my journal, so most of what you see now and over the next few days will be already completed. I'm guessing I will be caught up to my current progress by early next week. Feel free to comment, compliment, or criticize (in a constructive way, please) on my build!

Welcome aboard, Jack. Good for you, planning on a build to be finished in just a few months. You will be happy to know that all comments will be absolutely constructive, since we are here to help your build along, not criticize your efforts. Be sure to take lots of pics as you go along, since you will not have another chance to do so. Now, how about filling us in regarding the shape, length, height, width, and exterior material. Good luck, ask any questions you want, and come on out to Calif on your maiden trip.
8) :) Roly ~~

Thanks for the supportive words, Roly! I love building things, and if you have followed my journal, I did mention that my nature is to complete projects efficiently and in a timely manner. We haven't made plans for this summer yet, but likely headed east to see some friends in the Okoboji area. We have plans to head west soon, however, as we have relatives in California and Oregon. Are there any teardrop gatherings in your neck of the woods?

The largest teardrop gathering in the world is about to take place at Lake Perris, right here in So Calif, in three days from now. Fly on out here, rent a car and come by and visit. Just kidding, too bad you can't make this one, but perhaps next year. I'll be there for 4 days, as it is the only "teardrop-only" gathering that I know of. I wouldn't miss it, and I expect to see a bunch of old friends and many new teardroppers, who have heard about this wonderful gathering, of about 120 units who plan to bring their home-builts or purchased teardrop trailers, to meet and greet each other.

Roly, hope you have a great time at the teardrop gathering. I will definitely keep it in mind for a future trip!
