Hello from the generally hot central Texas! I appreciate allowing registration and look forward to learning and building a modified Great Lakes design. I have a boat and good sized truck to tow the boat and I also like to camp but pulling a boat and an RV at the same time is not something I would think is fun. So my thought was to build a teardrop, have the Misses pull the Teardrop with the Jeep while I pull the boat to wherever we're going.
I've been working all last fall and spring modifying a dropped axle triple motorcycle trailer to fixed 6.5' wide X 10' long platform to build a rather large teardrop. Yes, its a little wide but I'll do what is needed to make it work. The trailer is now completed, the flooring is stained and sealed and is affixed. I've bought some plans for a Great Lake model, air conditioner, doors, hardware and will have some plumbing fixtures in a couple of weeks. I'll have to go into Austin to purchase some 10' long sidewalls in a couple of weeks then lay it down and lay it out. I think I have a photo or two of the trailer build attached. As far as power to the unit, I'm not a fan of working with high voltage but I've dabbled in it. I have plans for the ability to have campsite power in, as well as generator/inverter, 12 volt battery and maybe if I go crazy add a solar panel.
I do look forward to learning and staying connected so thanks ahead!!!
