This a simple diagram of an expanding bathroom that I am considering putting in.... haven't done it yet.

Basically the front half of the bathroom works like a drawer with slides. I am planning on two sets of heavy duty slides. One set near the bottom and one set close to the top.

I like your idea, have a thought. Put the sliding doors on the I outside of the wals. Helps prevent water from shower from coming out. Omits use of rubber barrier on the inside of the gap. Just a thought.

That is a thought. In the location I am using in my ct it would entail a little more building as the right side wall for me would be the ct wall. A good consideration though. Either way if both the stationary wall and the sliding wall are frp on the inside and they are mounted over the shower pan area, there should be enough wall overlap with the trim that any water should end up in the pan. hmmm...

At it was, I was planning on using a full surround shower curtain. It is not on a track but has elastic through the top hem and just attaches to cup hooks.

It's what I use now without the walls.

.
If you use double doors (with a center weather-strip style overlap on the back/inside) instead of one single door, you'll save space in the aisle and have more room for something else. ...Did my statement make sense? It's hard to explain without drawing pictures. Two doors, each 18 inches, take up less space when they open than one 36 inch door.

Double doors do make good sense. Great idea.

The way I look at it is that my basic idea along with ones like what angib posted are springboards for ideas rather than finished projects. I think it is great seeing improvements and adaptations that others would make. To me that is what a major part of this forum is about...shared inspiration and ideas.
