I used two batteries mounted in the floor and ran the cables underneath through the frame holes up into my power distribution box located on the left front of my V nose trailer. Everything is behind the walls and i cut the insulation out to go around the wires. I covered the battery box with a neoprene gasket and a diamondplate cover with countersunk bolts, i also ran aluminum trim on the floor between the wall and floor as well..dont have any updated pics yet showing this..

^^^ EXCELLENT job, Norcal2! :thumbsup:

I'm in need of a very similar double battery box for my Haulmark 6x12. No welding skill though... Have you seen anything like your box commercially available?

TIA

The aluminum 2 battery box i bought online at overstock.com there may be places that offer the below deck battery boxes. if you have a local welding shop they can weld one up for you its pretty easy to build. i started with the aluminum box to start and welded up a frame around it...for someone else to do it shouldnt be much work and $$ good luck!

Here is my front generator box..i built for my V nose trailer..i didnt have much room to work with and had to swap out the front jack for a front crank model... this for 2 honda e1000 generators stacked on top of each other... the total weight of the rack and diamondplate is 50lbs, i use the lower generator to re charge my deep cell batteries when im on the road and my electric scooters...this also keeps the generators quiet when im in a campground...the bottom is open so air gets in and the lower gen has an outside exhaust made from a junk stainless handicap rail... i dont need 2000 watts all the time and this gives me the option to use one or two generators or at the same time with the honda bridging hookup... and store my stuff in the upper one when i dont need 2 generators..the slides are nice for working on the generator and accessing my stuff...I still have to figure out a better stainless locking mechanism..

Mounted a roof rack, I put my kayak and paddleboard on top, and when i go to the races i use it as a viewing platform as well..also works good for a sunshade mounting to keep the sun off the roof when im in the desert..and a tarp tie down...

norcal2, Howdy;

Your set-up for the generators is great! However .....
you may want to re-think the exhaust pipe direction for your generators.
Up is the preferred direction as the Co (exhaust), will want to migrate that direction on
it's own. The way you have it now it's going to fill your trailer or your neighbor's with Co
and that's not such a good idea.

Your genny rack is pretty cool..I have a steel cabinet about the same size that I was thinking about mounting in the same position. Seeing yours, I think I'll go ahead with it.

Mine would store the battery and distribution, leveling blocks, etc.

Hi Hank..i can move the exhaust in any direction, i had it straight up..but its noisy. and rain gets in....i use it mostly for charging my batteries when im on the road so the fumes dont bother me, and when i have been camping it hasnt been bad... i made a little asbestos donut so the exhaust fits pretty tight, sort of like my motorhome exhaust which does go down also..when i camp i open the rack door and slide it out a little depending on if there is someone near, as i have heavy duty slides.. the box does knock the sound down a lot with even thought the honda is already quiet! Thanks...

norcal2, Howdy;

It's a lesson I'd learned while I was an Over the Road driver.
"Never park next to a GrassBurner"
Most Motorhome gen. exhaust will exit out the side of the MH.
and most folks use something like this;

Here is are pics of how my finished cabinets looked I put shelves inside and upward open cabinet doors on the top the inverter and fuse panel on the left side i still have plenty of storage...they have worked good so far for the last year and so has the microwave with the generator..the fold down marine sink faucet works good when on the road so it does not get in the way of stuff I may carry on the countertop..or get broken off..

Thanks! it was a lot of work! I just found i had a bad ground between my batteries..one of them is completely dry ..took it back to costco and it was within a year so they gave me a new one, used lock washers now, im going to check my battery water level often now!
