It looks like the unit in your first link flashes the lights back and forth (left and right - I personally wouldn't like this), the unit in the second link just flashes all your brake lights together (I've seen ambulances and highway vehicle brake lights do this), and the third link is for an actual brake light that flashes. Does that answer your question? I'm not sure if I may have misunderstood.

I included links for folks who are in the dark about the topic.
Not everyone knows what a wig wag is

The question was has someone used them & found a quality difference between the $10 - $100 units

wig wags, as most know them, are the unit that causes police cars to flash the left and right headlights back and forth...
Illegal for private use in most states

The aftermarket 1938/39 Ford LED tail lights we used on our teardrop had the option to wire for a rapid flash-then solid light mode or just solid light mode. Initially I wired the lights in flash mode, but changed it back to "traditional" solid mode. I will say that they LED lights are very bright, even during the day. Had they not been so bright, I probably would have left them in flash mode. LED lights also seem to be more "abrupt", and therefore more noticeable, in changing from off to on. Incandescent bulbs seem to ramp up on light intensity and are not as abrupt.

As a prior volunteer firefighter who also read through the entire Illinois vehicle code section on vehicle lighting, I'd say to be VERY careful about using that. Flashing lights have extremely specific restrictions and laws about flashing flights change wildly from state to state. So even if allowed in one state it may not be in another.

If anything, and you're still determined to get one, I'd get one that flashed both brake lights once or twice then holds solid. That's also something you can do manually...

But I'd avoid any sort of wig wag unless you KNOW it's allowed in every state you plan to pull your TD in.

IMO, wig wag red lights reminds me of a firetruck, not a vehicle that hit its brakes.

Also, if you dont have one, a high mount brake light like all vehicles have had since the 70's is probably worth more then flashing the taillights in a wig wag pattern.

I agree with all you guys 1,000% using Wig Wags driving down the highway might be a little dicy

Especially because I have 6 large & super bright LED bars already giving folks LED blindness
On my first 1200 mile trip I did have 4- 5 cops on my ass, but they turned away or passed.
I did notice NO trucker got closer then 50-100 feet behind me & they all passed me ASAP!!
I did see 3 car haulers that had about 200+ side LED's but less on the back.
Not trying to brag ...... But at night with all the lights my little trailer looks like a million bucks.

I'm thinking to use the Wig Wags for the alarm & or in the dessert like camping at Quartsite.

Also my trailer Has its own trailer plug , where I can plug the trailer into the trailer vs. the TV
This allows me to operate all trailer lights and breaks W/O the TV being present
I'm also wiring in some LED sound light controllers - just for fun.
So for example the break lights could flash to the music.....
Maybe while camping next to a LOUD generator middle of the night - I could share some light pollution ?

Here are pictures of some of my lights :pictures: :pictures:
