Today I got the below deck storage boxes final fitted and drilled, then I removed them and applied the first coat of oil based paint, also tapped the holes in the frame for 10-32 bolts.

I picked up some grade 8 bolts and installed the rear stabilizer jacks which came in handy while fitting the storage boxes since I had to disconnect the springs and lower the axle to be able to slide the large box over the top of the axle.

Got the trailer loaded and ready for the maiden voyage as a camper. After this week long trip I will be painting the walls and ceiling, finish and install the galley, installing the floor covering, diamond plate crown molding, water tanks and plumbing and below deck beer cooler! Sounds easy right?....

Hi Piperpilot3tk,

I like your below deck storage setup. I was thinking of doing the same for locating my batteries. Do you have anymore pictures of how you installed yours?

Thanks,

Bob

Bob, I may have more pictures at home, I will try and find them next week. The boxes are made from 1/2" plywood which is screwed and glued together. I also added aluminum angles to the bottom edges of the box for extra security using number 10 screws with T-nuts on the inside. Since the new crossmembers that I installed had sufficient wall thickness, I just drilled and tapped them for number 10 screws which attach the boxes to the frame. Both boxes have been load tested to 250 lbs with no issues.
