Woot! My trailer is built! (6x12 V-Nose - now with pics)

Postby khigh » Thu Aug 28, 2014 12:19 pm

Almost a month early! I can't even go get it for a week because I totally wasn't prepared. I don't have the 7-pin connector and I want to get my brakes to 100% before I haul a trailer back four hours.

This won't be my build thread - going to come up with a name for it and lead with pictures, but I had to share. I'm leaning towards BMLT for a name - "Big Man's Little Trailer"

Here's the build sheet

- 6 X 12 Single Axle Enclosed Trailer
- 3.5K GVW Leaf Spring Axle With Elect Brake
- Add 6 Inches To Interior Height
- Drop Axle
- 16” On Center Cross Members
- V-Nose
- 30 X 15 Window
- Fold Down Stabilizer Jacks
- RV Style Flush Latch
- 60” Triple Tube Tongue
- Value Package (ATP Stone guard, roof vent, interior light w/switch)
- Light Pewter In Color
- Spare Tire
- 1” Thick R-4 Expanded Polystyrene Ceiling Insulation
- White Vinyl Ceiling
- 1” Thick R-4 Expanded Polystyrene Wall Insulation
- 24" X 24" Cast Aluminum Access Door With Lock
- 15" X 30" Window With Vertical Slider (Mounted In Door)
- 30 Amp Breaker Box With Motor Base Plug
- 110 Volt Interior Receptacle X 2
- 110 Volt GFI Receptacle
NOTE: Slider window centered between side door and rear start 12” down from ceiling
NOTE: Spare shipped loose
NOTE: 24 X 24 centered in driver’s side of V-nose 9” down from top hinged on top
NOTE: Breaker box below access door 30 inches off floor
NOTE: 1 receptacle centered 4 inches below access
NOTE: 1 receptacle opposite side of V-nose same height
NOTE: 1 GFI left side of side door, 9 inches back toward rear

I've already got a lot of stuff for it - the air conditioner, generator, inverter, shelves, bed, and fuel cans. Some things I have picked out already awaiting delivery like the batteries and paneling. I'm going to take it out in some form or other in Late September - hopefully more complete than not, but if it's like anything else, it will never be comlete.

Congratulations and welcome khigh.

I can relate to getting the CT early. I just made contact today with a Ford dealer to install my trailer brake controller so I will be ready should I get such good news.

Look forward to your photo posts.
Bob

I got a little postponed on picking it up - went down and got it today

It almost matches! Not bad for a free color.

In case I want to sell falafel while I camp

Long way to go, but I can still camp in it - just think of it as a "hard tent"

khigh, Looks good, I like the Falafel window...I'm assuming that's for a future window mount A/C? OTTCT will be happy to see you on here I'm sure...He too is a Larker

I already have the window unit. The access doors only come in stock sizes and that one's too big. Basically I'm going to mount the AC on a piece of plywood and do something with studs in the walls and some wingnuts - then just put it in when I get where I'm going. It's top hinged, too, so it serves as an awning of sorts.

I saw one guy that had a similar idea and had the A/C mounted on a shelf with drawer casters on it. Pretty slick design, fold & slide out when you're parked. It looks like you're already half-way there already having the hatch door.

Nah - I'm going the pretty easy route. Plus if I'm not going to be using it, I'll just leave it at home.

All I'll do is put about 6 of these in the double thickness of wall and window frame, drill some oversized corresponding holes on the AC panel, and fasten the whole thing with wingnuts. I was overthinking it there for a bit with foam sealant and the like, but it's already going to be tighter than a window unit in a window.

Good call...plus having the A/C permanent would interrupt your felafel sales. I like where your head's at!
