Yeah, I was a little surprised at how little power the little LCD took, but Its worked fine, and its way cheaper than any of the 12V ones. ( strap the invertor on the back and you can tell your friends its 12V) :thumbs up1:

Remember though, inverters are really inefficient....it's a trade off.

inverter size

Postby Socal Tom » Tue Mar 24, 2015 9:40 pm

The kills watt says the TV draws 40 watts, at 80% efficiency I can watch tv 12 hours and still be above 50% battery power. Your right, there are trade offs, but the 12V TVs are expensive enough that the trade off can pay for the inverter and another battery if you want to.

A question. Why an inverter? If you look at most LCD and LED flat tv's, they are in the 11.3 vdc to 16 vdc input from the transformer brick. And closer look at the Insignia tv's are 11.8 and 12 vdc ($75 LCD tv w/ DVD Player). My tv plugs directly into the camper's 12 vdc system with out a hick-up. I use Blue Sea Systems Dual USB Charger Socket for charging my phone. And for the wife, this is a 5 minute job for her coffee Coleman® Camping Coffeemaker. Your camper is already 12 vdc and there is everything out there to keep it that way...except the air conditioner and washing machine.

That price. Is much cheaper than I've seen before. In my case, the TV was gathering dust in the closet, and the inverter was on the shelf.

Ahh. I try to reuse what I can too...so a tv and inverter collecting dust would need to be used. Kewl Build you have.

I've never seen a tv here with a separate transformer but then again we work on 240v so that could be why...idk

Morning Dale. I am Not any way affiliated with this place.. it's just where I got mine at. But, this is a small TV like I have for my camper...
could not find the one with the built in DVD.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dynex-19-cl ... Id=6540123

The little power brick says input 220-240 and 110-115 vac with an output 11.9 vdc. Works like a champ on a AGM batter I have. I just want
my camper to be boondock happy if I pull into a stop and they don't want a generator running.

Cool tv, thanks for the link.
I go have another look around.
Saw an ex demo 12 volt er for 50 bucks for a 2 2 inch I think it was the otherday but they are a pretty horrible brand.
I got a 42 inch one and after turning it on and off 3 times in as many days it got stuck in sleep mode and the remote wouldn't work.
Worst still you can't turn it on without the remote.
Wonder if I should give it a try or not.
Don't need it yet and have more important things to buy but 50 bucks is cheap

I don't have that brand. that was the closest I could find in a quick search. Mine is an Insignia and it is a champ. and as you did knock some gray matter free, I did get mine on sale too.
