Plywood Luan ? Trim

Question for the group. I see a lot of trailers (including mine) that come from the dealer with very thin (Luan?) trim to cover the edges of the plywood on the walls. It's hard to save this trim when you take the plywood off to install insulation. Is there a place where you can buy it? I checked Lowe's, no luck. I am not crazy about the trim, but I can see where it would super easy to put on and it is very light. Thanks.

If you have a router you can use 1x2" or similar and route an "ogee" edge or bullnose edge, then stain. Simple, economy, but a step up from luan.

They only sell Luan in 4*8 sheets in Lowes and Home Depot where I live. I have never seen the trim you are talking about. You could rip the 4*8 sheet into strips with the appropriate blade on the table saw. May need an extra set of hands to execute that however.

I used 1/4" plywood from Home Depot here in Canada ripped to 1.5" width strips to cover OEM plywood gaps.

I also used 1/4" plywood to cover the interior framing (i.e. waĺls) of my CT. Minimal blemishes and took paint well.

Thanks everyone. I have a table saw. Guess I need to get the rip fence and start ripping. Just thought I would check first. Can't take my table saw to Phoenix and I am not ready for that step yet.

I bought "lath strips" from Lowes to use for my trim. Their light easy to work with and take paint or stain well, plus it kept me from having to rip down 2X lumber. If you look for them @ Lowes their in the trim dept,

Generally most HDs & Lowes have a cutting station where you can have the folks there
rip the sheets for ya. Used to be at no charge just ask.

I was wandering around HD the other day and found strips of 1/4" mdf in the concrete dept. Used for forming curvy sidewalks. They would be perfect for trim.

Bought a sheet of 1/4" birch plywood underlayment and got together with the wife and we ripped the whole sheet into strips the same width as what the trailer came with. It's some nice looking stuff. I will be using the same for the ceiling after I get the insulation up. I will get it down to length at HD. Should come out pretty nice. Getting there.

Yeah, that birch clear plywood is beautiful. Nice for cabinet doors and such as well. That will make a gorgeous ceiling.
