New Build - 6*12 Offroad Toy Hauler

Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

Little things I didn't think about while building in Florida. I finally put in some low point drains on the cold and hot water pipes. Was able to make two adapters work for an air input to the quick disconnect outside. With this I won't have to worry about my pipes freezing up while I am towing or etc.. Last time I was in very cold weather, I actually had my faucet and etc. freeze and crack while I was crossing Missouri on the way back home. I'd rather not run the diesel heater while driving.

Does anyone do that ( run heater while driving)?

Even if the exhaust hose is properly pointed to the rear of travel (so as to avoid excessive back pressure and attendant problems) I would be concerned about a fuel line leaking that you would not know about, which would cause a long term mess. So, if it were me, I would not run the heater while driving.

I love my diesel heater but I am always leary about its reliability. :frightened:

X2, I never have either, I've always been weatherized if I pull in cold weather.

Added some bling today. I had some LEDs left over from another project, so I added some under my CTC fenders and just connected to the running lights so they come on with the lights. I already had some on the truck which I added last year when I pulled a Christmas Float in a parade. The lights don't serve much purpose, but I think they look .

Pretty cool Don! Looks like it would also make it easy to backup in the dark...see where your wheels are.

Have the KTM-450EXC loaded. Heading out to the desert southwest next week for some riding and all around adventure. Prepared for cold weather as needed. Image

Thanks. I am going as far as Quartzsite AZ, but will be camping in various BLM areas. My plan is to explore them and ride in the hills and washes where I can.

Got the new 3 Axis off-road hitch on and the trailer leveled up for towing. Leaving in 3 days for Quartzsite, AZ then meandering around the BLM areas in the Southwest until late February. Thinking of checking out some BLM camping near Roswell, NM also. Anyone have any experience in that area?
The Lock-N-Roll hitch:

Have fun and be safe, the cold weather has put a stop on my riding for now.

I keep going back and going through you're build threads. I see you have one trailer with blank and grey tanks and one with a portable toilet. What are the pros and cons with each? I'm thinking of building a 6x14 and I'm wondering how I want to set up the bathroom.

The larger trailer (7x18 V-nose) is not so much off-road and I am usually with my wife and in places with it where I can find a dump station. With the little CTC (6x12), I built it with extended boondocking in mind and didn't want to deal with having a black water tank fill up and need dumping somewhere.

With the portable toilet, I use the the tank for just pee (#1). I put a bag in it for #2. I can put the bag in the trash to be dumped. #1 takes a long time to fill, but can be dumped via the cassette in any vault toilet, rest area toilet, dump station, etc..

The porcelain flushing toilet is so much nicer to use and almost a requirement for my wife, but it requires dumping at a dump station every 5 days or so with 2 people. Portable toilet, I don't worry about the need to dump. Much more convenient. Also, when I have the 6x12 CTC out, my wife is not with me. It is the trailer I take solo.

I did leave real estate under the toilet in the 6*12 CTC for a blackwater tank if I ever change my mind, but I don't think I'll ever change it up. If I do anything, it will probably be for a composting toilet for the same reasons.

Hope this helps you
