Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

GF wants answers................

Postby mcbalmer » Mon Apr 05, 2010 9:42 pm

Hey everyone.............please help as my GF is wanting answers from people who have "done it"

We've just bought a 2000 Silverado 5spd 4.8 ltr after drooling over my friends and his dads sierras for 20 years. We am moving some 2000 miles in a few weeks and need to buy a cargo trailer. I live right by the border of Washington/British Columbia and am wondering a few things.

1. The truck isn't in perfect condition but I have just spent $1,500 to get it into reasonable shape and now want to know what size cargo trailer you would advise (i'm thinking 6x12 but will go smaller if it would be advised)

2. Any advice on where to get either a good deal from a dealer or a private sale?

3. Any advice on hitch/ball etc to ensure a good setup would be appreciated and where is the best place to get it............

Cheers!

www.trailerfinds.com lists all of the cargo trailers on Craigslist, Ebay and others.
I just used it to find a 6x16 Featherlite locally.

I have a 6 by 12 and it is pretty nice.

I pulled it with a Chevy pickup V6/5 speed for several years. Now i have an 03 Dodge 5.7/5 speed auto. Both worked well. It pulls easily.

With the construction economy in the tank, there should be a good number of used ones all over the place.

I bought mine used during the big days and still saved a grand or so.
