Air Conditioner sizing and type???

I am wondering what size AC to use, and if anyone has had better results with a certian brand.

I have been looking at the Carrier 15000btu unit, but wonder if a 13500 would be plenty.

The 13500 will have no problem keeping your trailer cool. Carrier air conditioners are excellent units and their customer service has always been better than the other manufactures.

Thats funny you are asking, I was about to post a A/C question today. Are all the roof A/C's 220v or can you get them in 115v?

I bought a edgestar 12000 btu portable AC off Ebay for 350.00 they claim it will cool a 400 square foot room.
It has wheels so you can roll it and vent it out any window,I plan to vent it out the floor of the trailer,and also use it in a work room at home.
it pulls 8amps and I test ran it on my honda 2000E generator and it worked perfect evan when I ran the microwave,it will go down to 60 degrees and has a hand held remote control.
I have been running it at home and it is quiet.
Then only thing left for me to buy is a tankless hot water heater,I can't decide if I should get a propane or find a 110 electric?

Got a great deal on a Carrier 15000 BTU unit with heat strip tonight. Should be here in a week. If I ever stop traveling I can turn the trailer into a meat locker.

Got the A/C unit in today. I think the hardest part was removing the sealer around the roof vent, what a pain in the @#$. Finally got it cleaned off and the rest of the job was easy. Took the forklift and put the unit on the roof it wieghs 107.

Mounting the inside ceiling controls and making the correct wiring connections was simple and well marked. The heat strip was installed and connected also.

The cooling is fantastic. It is a fairly quiet unit and the 15000 btu may have been overkill but I would rather have too much and not need it.

The heating strip really does not impress me so far. It does not really heat as much as I had hoped for, but I will test it tomorrow to see if there is a problem.

The 15000 BTU Carrier will work great. You just have to make sure the ceiling unit filters stay clean. With large AC's (13,500 and 15,000) on small trailers like ours, if the filter is even partially clogged, there won't be enough warm air flow through the evaporator and it will freeze fairly quickly.

The heating strips are really just to take the nip out of the air on a cool day. On a cold day, they don't have enough output to make the camper comfortable. Whenever I install one, I always tell that to the customer so they wont be disappointed in its performance.

Good to know. I was expecting warm air out of the AC with the heat strip on. It is NOT what I would call warm. If it gets COLD we are going to freeze. Probibly will put a little portable unit in the closet just in case.
