Looking for some ideals for constructing a screen door for the side door on my 6 x 12 Pace American trailer
Any hints or help will be greatly appreciated.

here is a link for a retractable screen the smallest it comes is 70" but i think i can make it fit my door by cutting off another 5" to make it work.It would have to be attached to the inside of the door wayhttp://www.odl.com/downloads/retractable_screen_brochure.pdf

Screen Door

Postby kstephenson » Tue May 04, 2010 7:02 pm

I decided to build my screen door so that it slides like a patio screen door. Seems to work pretty good. I bought the upper door track and roller kit with 60" track from Lowes for under 15.00 and attached my door to it. I built my door from 1 x 4 boards and used a 32 x 62 window screen from Lowes for 14.00. Along with L braces and hardware. I figure I have about 40.00 dollars invested in my sliding screen door. The best part about it..... it uses very little space on the interior of the trailer. Oh...By the way....This ideal is my wifes ideal....She gets full credit for the design.

Kevin,

Nice job. Nice set up. (I see that you have fixed the door so that you cannot be locked in from the outside and have a gate bolt to lock yourself in from the inside.)

P.S. If those metal brackets with screws holding the uprights to the cross members don't hold up, or you want to get fancy, you can make triangle gussets out of wood or metal sheeting to really make the joints solid. They could even go on both sides (inside and outside). Just a thought. ;)
My goal...
