New Members 7x16 Conversion. Counters Almost Done 8/23

Ive been lurking for awhile and thought Id say HI and show
a few pictures of my Conversion. I bought a new 7X16 Interstate
cargo trailer 3 weeks ago and due to the heat Ive only been able
to work on it in the evenings some, but with the help of my BIL
its comming along pretty good.

Heres what I started with.





We started at the back by removing the walls, insulating and putting
the luan back on





After the walls were done we insulated the ceiling and added LUAN.



Next we built a dividing wall and stained the walls and ceiling

We would have been alot farther along, but we had to make a trip
to the hospital to get the newest addition to our family. Her name
is Jenna Lynn and she's 10 days old today!!



If anyone is interested Ill get some more pics up tomorrow.
Since we got home from the Hospital we have gotten the
base boards done, added the chair rail and started building shelves

The next step will be to finish the galley and the back room..

Is this going to be a toy hauler or a two room camping machine? I have been battling the heat also june and july was the hottest on record and I didn't get much done then on mine. I probably would have done better but my AC unit went out and once that happened I pretty much let it slide.

I couldn't help but notice the insulation on the front wall. Was it just the pics or did you have the vapor barrier turned the wrong way on a couple of those boards?

I haven't done flooring yet and can't decide on what I will use. I want to get all the rough work done before I do flooring and it will probably be the last thing I do. My ADD problem has me re doing pretty much everything I do two or three times before I'm finished and I don't want to have to re-do the floor once it's done.

Its going to be alittle of both. We will use it some in the summer as a camper when we vacation, but for the most part it will be my mobile man cave for deer camp and weekend fishing trips. The back will have a fold up bed so I can haul my 4 wheeler and hunting stuff out to camp and then set it up as a bedroom when everything is unloaded.

Some of the insulation had a differnt color coating on the outside so it looks different. The back is just a clear.

I suffer from a little ADD myself, but its not a bad thing. I debated on putting the floor down last, but since Im staining everything outside all Ill have to worry about is being carefull when I touch everything up.

Nice looking conversion and it seems you're making good progress. 16' sure makes a difference (mine is a 6x10).

Did you insulate the roof too? I couldn't tell by the photos but if not you should as that's where a lot of the heat will come from in the summer and interior heat (when heating the inside of the CT) will will escape from in the winter.

Keep the photos coming as I am in the middle of my 6x10 conversion and always like to see how others are doing their conversions and the ideas they come up with.

We got some more done today. We have to finish the
counters and cabinets, but things are moving along pretty
good considering we have a new baby at home.

This is a pic of the left side by the door going into the
bedroom/cargo area. If anyone is wondering what that
is hanging on the back wall, its a cork board to hang
snapshots from deer camp and a bragging board of
things we have taken while hunting and fishing!!

Spent just a few minutes getting the cabinets started



Thats all for now. I just have the rest of the week to work on
it and then Ill have to go back to work. I hope to have the galley
done sometime this weekend and then itll just be some finish work
in the back. After its done like I want Ill add some vents, but for now
I want to get the inside finished

Prety much to give me MY space when everyone decides to pile in at Deer Camp or when the family goes the kids can be up front and we can be in our own room.

Worked on the trailer some more this weekend. Got the base done for the counter and made my first set of doors. They didnt turn
out too bad if I say so myself!!

We made the frame out of 1X'S and stained them

Next project is to install the countertop and bar sink..

There is a single 12 volt light in the middle of the front and Ill put a single 12 volt in the middle in the back. I found some 12 volt live well lights that have heads about the size of a quarter that Ill use for indirect lighting. They will mount flush under the shelves that run along the side walls and should look pretty good when mounted.
