Mission creep

Ok.....how many have suffered mission creep??

I started looking at a 6x10 SA, then to a 6x12 SA, then to TA, then to a 7x12 TA, then settled on a 7x14 TA. BUT, then I'd have to buy a larger TV. So now I'm back to a 6x12 SA.

Goal - camping for my wife and I with 2 labs (yes, she insists.....) towed by a Honda odyssey (3500 tow limit). Think I'll just pull the trigger on the 6x12 SA and go from there (I can always give to my daughter when I get a truck )

How many have suffered the same?? Any regrets on decisions??

I would have to say it really depends on the type of person you are. Is it going to be more like a hard sided tent or a self-contained RV? I am rarely in mine but to sleep and cool down if hot out.

Welllll....I'm just looking for a cool place to sleep with a soft mattress.

The CFO is looking for more of the self-contained......

I figured a 6x12 was a good compromise for us and why it's the size I bought. Most of my tents were smaller ... so the added room....
Being able to have a fridge, and microwave, anything else I thought of....
well, longer would be just more to tug around.

That's called design. Most people don't understand what it takes to design the perfect trailer. It takes a few tries to work through all your options and there's nothing wrong with that.

The tow vehicle is usually what limits your choices.... If I had a 3/4 ton or 1 ton diesel pickup I'd have a trailer larger than 7 X 16... With your tow vehicle I'd stay small - 6 X 10 or maybe 6 X 12 and no more than 6' inside height. Preferably with a 3' V nose. My 6 X 10 has a 2' V nose. My 7 X 16 has a 3' V nose. Noticeable difference on the inside.

Likewise. I don't think it ends if we can "devise" a way to met an idea.

I have a larger tow vehicle right now, but know I won't forever.
I drew out my ideas on paper a few times before I decided on the size.
My original thought was a 6 x 12 single axle, but then read about tandem axle trailers having a smoother ride, so I went with that.
I picked the 7 x 14 with the 3 foot V nose, I had an option on a 4 foot V nose, but I thought it looked funny.

I pull a 26" travel Trailer with my Dodge Dakota w/V-8 No Problems! Matter of Fact it tows it better than my Full Sized Dodge Ram 1500! When I pull the 6x10 Cargo trailer I don't even know it's there until I look in the mirror!

I pull a 26" travel Trailer with my Dodge Dakota w/V-8 No Problems! Matter of Fact it tows it better than my Full Sized Dodge Ram 1500! When I pull the 6x10 Cargo trailer I don't even know it's there until I look in the mirror!

I must be doing something wrong I have always known the trailer's were behind me.
now some pulled easier than others but I knew they were there.
stopping takes longer, turns are wider, using gas stations takes more care, slower to accelerate,
if you don't feel any one of these things I mentioned then you must be asleep or like I said I'm doing something wrong

Same here Pete. I've always known my trailers were back there. Before I bought my 7' X 16' enclosed, the trailer in this picture was the biggest one that I pulled. Don't know the exact overall size. The top boat was 10' 10" and the one under it was 11' 10". The motor box on that trailer is 6' wide X 4' long. Don't remember the height offhand... Pulling that trailer with the '94 Honda Passport (3.2L V-6) in the picture I definitely knew the trailer was back there! I traded the Honda for a '95 Suburban with a 350. Much better but I still knew the trailer was back there. That trailer is all aluminum. It doesn't weigh much. The boats weighed ~ 120 to 150 pounds each. The motors (in the box) weighed 100 pounds each. Not a lot of weight. Maybe 600 pounds total on / in the trailer.
