Awning Question?

Postby k1hog » Sat Jan 21, 2012 1:17 pm

I would like to install an awning on my 7 X 14 cargo trailer conversion, please advise your thoughts for an awning? I have looked at the bag awnings, looks like they are for pop up, I wonder if the bag awning can be used on a cargo trailer?

Thanks

You need at least 6" above the top of the door for a bag awning.

I had an awning rail installed at the factory and had a local guy sew a welt into an old rain fly I had. I could use this on either side as I have a rail on the driver side too.

Barb, Thanks for the reply, your awning setup is very interesting. Does the awming stay on the camper? If it does stay on the camper, does it roll up, what about the poles?

Thanks for the information!

Barb and Johnnie I had a roll-up bag awning on my pop-up trailer
if I forgot to unzip it before I raised the top I needed a ladder or table to stand on to get it out of the bag.
Barb I'm wondering how you do yours?

We have three awnings that attach to Compass Rose using Kedar/awning rail The rear one is 6' wide at the trailer opens out to 14' wide by 14' long. These work very well and can be adjusted for camp site, wind or rain (have done all three). The one in the rear made by Pahaque will be getting sides and no seeum netting some time. Poles are adjustable or can be left out to change angle height etc.

I remove my awning for travel. The awning welt slides into the rail real easy. I like it so much I'll have the same guy sew welt into another light weight fly that I have for next camping
I store the poles in the back. I wanted something easy and fast!
