6 X 12 with a Swivel Jack

Postby 51mercpu » Tue Jun 26, 2012 9:22 am

Hi, I have been lurking for some time and really enjoy the site. I want to pull my trailer behind my truck and camper, but find with an 18 inch receiver extention, the jack bottoms out on most curbs. I have replace it with a swivel jack mounted on one of the A frame rails. I am wondering if anyone has done this, and if there are any comments/suggestions about using the swivel jack. I carry my quad in the trailer. Appreciate any information/suggestions.

Hello, and welcome!

I am wondering why you need the extension on the receiver? 18 inches adds a lot of leverage to a trailer. If you really need the trailer farther away from the truck, have someone add some length to the hitch on the trailer. Much safer.

Maybe a pic so we can see what you are dealing with.

welcome you have found the fountain of knowledge site

I understand you to say you have a combo which consist of a truck, a camper and a trailer?
don't understand why you need 18 inch extension unless it is to allow you to make tighter turns.

but using a swivel wheel jack is very much acceptable and one most pop-ups trailers use
most are for the reason you state to keep from dragging going over bumps like curbs.
