I always heard I needed at least a 3.5K to run my 13,500 AC. Maybe the newer ones are lower amp draw? If a 2K will run it and nothing else, I'd buy one of those quiet ones in a minute! I've been waiting because I figured I needed 2 2ks with a double kit, or a 3500 with some sound proofing.

Has anyone ran a 13,500 AC on a 2K generator? If so, I'd love to hear about it.

That's another one of the reasons I went with the window AC = because I would have to buy another honda 2000 and use 2 hooked together just to have AC.
On my 1st trip camping I ran my Honda 2000 like 30 hrs straight with a extended run gas tank that held 5 gallons of gas,my buddy camping next to me had a 13.5 roof top AC and he had a 4 or 5000 watt generater and he was burning like a gallon of gas a hour every 5-6 hours he was out there refilling the generator with gas and by SAT evening he had to go to town and buy more gas.
I ran a test and I was able to run my window AC and charge my golf Cart at the same time which I wasn't sure if it was possible to with the honda 2000,I am extremely happy with that.
I also think that the extended run gas tank is a must have,I bought mine on ebay and it great.
The great thing is you don't have to shut it off to add more gas to the tank.

I just read through my book that came with the AC and it said minimum generator size is 3.5KW. I still want to get a propane generator which are supposed to run quieter and longer than gas powered.

Cant knock the rain because we need it but it is raining again so no work on the trailer tonight.

Smiddy,

I'm pretty sure you have brakes. What you describe is exactly what my trailer (with brakes) has. The small cable will activate the brakes if the trailer comes separated from the TV. Your trailer should have a 7 pin connector and if you don't have one you will need a brake controller for your TV to make the brakes work. You may want to open the little box and make sure there is a small battery in there.

Your build is looking good. Thanks for continuing to post with the pictures.

I have the round connector on my trailer, I have not counted the pins but I will. Supposedly there is only a 20% chance of rain today so I should get some work done tonight when I get home. Of course there was only a 20% chance yesterday and we had thunder, lightning, and about 2 inches of rain. :rainy:

How much room do you need to put an awning on your CT? I would like to get one and have seen some on here with one but I think I only have about 2 inches of space above the side door. Is it easier to just get one of those free standing canopies?

Thanks for all the post and info.

Too late for this one, but for removing stickers
1. Heat from hair dryer or heat gun to soften the adhesive
2. Plastic razor blades http://toolmonger.com/2008/01/25/plastic-razor-blades/ Available at Ace Hardware, AutoZone, etc.
3. Goo-Gone (AFAIK, there is not a product called goo-be-gone) Let it have dwell time to do its work. http://googone.com/
4. Automotive rubbing compound

Someone on here had about the same amount of room and they rigged up a pvc brace to raise it up a few inches about 2-3' out from the trailer so the door would not drag on it. I also thing they put a roller at the top of the door thats made to raise the canopy up away from the door as it swings open.

Dadgum it! I cut that board 5 times and it's still too short!

Tried to post some pictures this weekend but could not get them to upload. I got the galley done complete with sink and veneer counter top. I installed the water inlet and built some shelves inside the cabinets. I took everything apart and my wife painted the plywood and I put it back together. So everything is done for now.

Today will be attempt number 2 as its intended purpose. I will leave work a little early this afternoon and pull the trailer the hour or so south to a RV park in Pearsal. I will set it up for my wife to do her 3 scheduled massages, and maybe book a couple more. We will use it for its alternate purpose this weekend and camp in it about 2 hours north of where we live.

I still plan on getting a tongue tool box, awning rail, a generator, and a paint job. I am sure after we use it this weekend we will come up with some other "wants" for it, but for now it is done.

Your not going to be able to run a 13.5 k AC on one of those little 2k inverter generators.. My Honda eu2000i will run my 9k roof top AC easily. Coleman also now sells a 12.5k AC thats ratings fit right in line with all these 2k inverter gens. I have not tested it my self.. But just going off the specs the 12.5k should run NP on a 2k gen. I'm pretty sure thats why they made it.
BTW its not really a efficiency thing between roof tops and window units.. Window units are just much smaller in most cases. If you have a larger trailer you will need a larger window unit. The only advantage to a window unit is Price...

Still cant upload pictures, I keep getting a white screen when the upload completes. Anybody else having this problem?

Last night the massage session was a sucess. My wife drove the truck pulling the trailer to get the feel of it while I followed in the car. We set up at the rv park and plugged into a 30 amp plug (first time with out the adapter for regular house hold plug), and everything worked fine. She stayed till about 10 and did 4 massages, and I went back home because I have to get up at 4am. I always get a cut of the profits so I am happy. :D

Now she needs to line up some more during the week and start earning some more money for all of my needs

Go to photobucket.com. Sign up for free account. Much easier to upload photos. No re sizing and simple to use. Ive had an account with them for a few years. Use it for a couple forums I'm on and to share family photos.
