Hey Don,
When I read you were going to Madrid, the first thing I thought of was the scene from Wild Hog's when they are in Madrid, N.M. (pronounced Mad Rid) I grew up a few miles from there and it was a "special" place in the '70's. It's an abandoned mining town that had turned into a hippy commune of sorts. But from Friday afternoon till Sunday night there was a mix of every type character you could imagine, just groovin' and hangin' out. The Saloon was like something from a dream, Cowboys, hippies, dogs, chickens, parrots, snakes.. you name it, They were all there together. Very Cool... 8)
the last time I was there was early 90's I guess. They were still doin' plays and serving libations in the
saloon, and there was guy putting on a wild west show with his dog and a monkey outside the saloon. I'm not sure if that stuff still goes on there, while you are on your bucket list trip, you may want to go thru and check it out. Beautiful country in the New Mexico mountains between Santa Fe and Albuquerque on N14 if memory serves.
Best to stay off the interstates anyways, 2 lanes is where life happens...just sayin'

Just getting back on this site. Curious how the bed turned out in the end? You end up getting the unistrut and gas struts working or go another route? I couldn't tell from my quick scan of your thread. Trailer looks great though. I'm impressed with the finish work.

The gas struts did not work out . I have some pulleys and an electric winch I'll be installing when I get the chance.

Thanks, Darin

I'll do that Darin when I am finished and have a complete list. That should be sometime later this week.

Hey Darin,

Nice job on the ceiling bed! Exactly what I was hoping to do for my ctc 6x12.

Was skimming through the thread and wanted to double check if you ever got around to posting the materials used? :D

Thanks
Ben

Made it back from Spain well yesterday. Madrid is a nice place. On the road trip with my nephew today. Here's a pic of the campsite with the camp mascot in some water behind us. :-)

flboy, Howdy;

Glad to hear you made it back from Spain all safe an sound.
I noticed in the upper photo, how kindly you are about providing
Albert (the alligator), with a gift wrap for his midnight snack. Colorful too

The few years I spent in Florida I never dared venture into the woods. From the road you could see these gigantic spiders with like 8' webs spun between the trees. I can't even imagine walking or even worse riding a motorcycle into one of these things. (Insert Horrified emoji here) Have you encountered this nightmare in your travels?

Well, he looks friendly enough. I mean he is smiling, and he looks pretty relaxed. So I guess as long as you don't trash the place and keep him up all night, everything's cool. ... 8) ...
