I made that mistake once, just once. You don't want anything in those boots that doesn't have the ability to wick the moisture out and away from the soles. Wool felt insoles and wool or wool/blend socks. NO COTTON or PLASTICS!! Learned that at -35f, Life got a lot better.... just sayin'..

These are the boots with the bootie. They had a cardboard piece that well it rotted. I wear wool blend socks and like them year around. But I only have a few thin pairs. The thick ones stretch out my shoes.

I finally got motivated to build the last kitchen cabinet for the never finished CTC. I got the door for the pump cabinet done last weekend, so I decided I better do this before I loose motivation. This is a 18"W* 32"L * 12"D cabinet that takes up the dead space above the microwave. The kitchen was really missing a cabinet for plates, cups, and light things like that which are used often. The overhead cabinets are harder to reach and are not good for things you use often and the cabinet below the microwave is the pantry with heavier dry goods and etc.. I have to let the glue dry, finish the luan skin, build the face, put in two shelves and build the door to match the other cabinets. I should have it ready to hang by the weekend. We'll see. The cabinet will go to the ceiling, I just set the frame there to size it up.

Got an hour or so in after dinner. I just need to fill screw holes with filler and final sand and paint on the cabinet, then I'll start the door. The last bit of woodworking I need to do on this CTC. :-)

Fit check for the cabinet. Need to make sure on clearance for door swing and etc.. How do you like that... the paper towels are enough to hold it up.. It is very light, which is what I went for by framing it and using 1/8" luan covering.. That cabinet is going to add some very usable storage to the kitchen area and not really take up any area already in play. I also ordered a stove top cover which will allow the stove to be used for counter space when not in use.

These are all things I have decided to do after using it for a while. Will make it more functional.

  Very Nice
You could even hang the paper towels under there and save even more counter space.

Final finish is drying. I'll add hardware and hang it tomorrow. The cool thing about this small project is that I made this cabinet out of scraps left over from the build. I was saving them in my shed. The only thing I don't have are the hinges which I'll pick up at Home Depot on the way to take my wife to see "Beauty and the Beast". I wanted to see "Guardians of the Galaxy", but , gotta go do my time at the girly movies every now and then. :-)

The cabinet looks good Don. You've got the cabinet making skills down to a science now. Not bad for someone that was gonna "buy" cabinets and doors, hahahaha

Thanks Martin (good to hear from you, I hope all is well).. Glad you gave me encouragement to try it myself. I like them with the flaws and all. It is amazing what is possible with some ordinary power tools and some persistence. Only could imagine if I had a real wood-shop with all the jigs and etc..

I mounted the cabinet today. I still have a piece of trim for the top to pick up and the rare earth magnet latch to install, but it is essentially done. No more cabinets to build... all done in that department.

This cabinet has a lot of storage space. It should be able to take a little weight and some bouncing. We'll see.
