When I did another look I now wonder how the bed supports are held onto the sidewall? do any of the screws screw into the wall studs or just into the plywood?

Hi Pete,
Nothing was put into the studs. Only used coarse threaded decking screws, 2" if I recall correctly. I figured that the shear strength of a dozen or more of those screws would support the platform on the outer edges without any problems. So far...so good. I have 2X4 fold down supports in the middle of each of the panels which helps carry the load as well. I think you might be able to detect one of them in the photo that primarily shows the cabinet built for the AC.

Thanks for your props!
Best,
WA

Hello everyone, new here and still reading some of the great threads about building a CT. WA just wanted to say that's just what I want to build as soon as time and $$ allows. Great job you're doing, I'm learning a lot. Thanks everyone for all the info, this is a good place for a beginner to start.

dudleydoright, about the ac exhaust you could make a short duct from thin sheet metal, open on both ends and fasten it to the door so when the door closed it would duct the hot air out through a door grill. Should keep the closet from getting so hot. Probably need to make it slightly oversize to fit over the back of the unit. Iwould think the condenser fan should be strong enough to exhaust the air outside. Or you could fasten it to the ac unit instead of the door, just use very short screws so you don't damage the coils.
