Ramp door Inside lock question

Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

Locking door

Postby mtfamily » Mon Jan 30, 2012 10:48 am

I suppose that is true. But if someone wanted to all they would have to do is wedge a 2x4 or a branch that is laying around against the door and they could block the door shut. Then bar or no bar you couldn't get out.

just one of the many things that we never think about when looking at a cargo trailer.
I have wondered if cargo trailers get broken into more often than regular travel trailers?
people thinking there is more things in a CT than a regular trailer.
that sucks about the latch not folding back does it just not fold completly back?
could a wooden spacer block be added so you could use the latch bracket you found?

Nice call sign by the way mine doesn't fit anything but I've had it to long to give up

Make a window or a vent opening an escape hatch, all TT have them .
Then you dont have to worry if some one locks the latch.

Agreed, I could jam up a regular door in less then a minute and lock someone inside if I wanted to. At the end of the day, I'm more concerned about keeping my cargo secure then being worried about someone being a D bag and locking me in my own trailer.

Pete42, the k1hog is a call I applied for back when that was firs possible, my original call was wd5dgt. I very active now. DW and I fulled timed for several years, as I was reguired to change duty locations more times than I liked. I hope to get back in HAM before long.

DW and I boon dock often, thus my concern about being locked in the cargo trailer.

I think we kinda got off track on this thread while the topic got shifted to how to lock open the entrance door clamp bar.
If you install inside latches on the ramp door you will leave yourself open to the possibility of someone closing the outside latches on the ramp.
they too should be locked open when your inside.
